Spring RTS Engine

!saveboxes only saves box 1-16.
Boxes 1 and 2 are used for teams, 1-3 for 3 teams FFA, 1-4 for 4 teams FFa...

I want to define where players start in 2, 3, 4 teams independently.

Additionally we should be able to use:
* !saveboxes [box#1] [box#2]
* !saveboxes [box#1] [box#2] [box#3]
* !saveboxes [box#1] [box#2] [box#3] [box#4]
* etc.

where "!saveboxes clearboxes" or "!saveboxes -2/-3/-4" could remove a map as suggested 3-way FFA map or suggested teams-map.


Edit: I though about this when I tried to set boxes for 3 teams AND 4 teams on Icy-Sea-v2

I'm not sure I get what you meant, but if you're speaking about SPADS, it already records different sets of boxes based on current nbTeams value.

For example, if you want to record a set of boxes for a 4-team FFA, just set nbTeams to 4, set the boxes, and do !saveBoxes.
Next time nBTeams is set to 4 on this map, these boxes will be automatically loaded and not the classic ones with nbTeams=2.

It is working?

NOTE: While reading this thread, please don't forget that this thread is about improving the user-friendlyness for setting up boxes!

But it still also takes long to setup.
Imagine Icy-Sea-V2 with 8 possible start spots:

You need to:
!split h/v 20
!addbox ... 3..n+2 (for ffa)
!saveboxes 1 2 (the big boxes
!saveboxes #west #south-east #north-east
!saveboxes #west #east #north #south
!saveboxes #west #south-west #north-west #south-east #north-east

With current commands, you need to do !nbteams and even more !addbox-commands.

Maybe we could just improve !addbox instead

!addbox #team s10 x10 y20
!addbox x10 y20 xx20 yy40
!addbox x10 x+10 y10 y+15 #team

Would be much easier if you could just say s10 instead of increasing x/y AND x/y if you change the offset(x1,y1) in your command.
Or don't have to care about the different order of parameters on every host - needs to be a standard then though.

But I don't know which improvement idea is easier to implement / remember / more liked by the community.
