Are there any other programs for rendering terrain from a heightmap that have the ease of use that l3dt pro has?

Bryce was also popular for TA maps, and I'm sure it could be used for Spring, but I always thought Bryce maps were rather fake and ugly looking... I don't think it's free either.

Yeha did flooded desert in bryce I think.
And terragen only costs if you don't have an eye patch or wooden leg.

Bryce is only $60, if your live near a Fry's(I don't even know if they have more then one store), they carry it. Terragen is $99 upfront, but half as much for each upgrade.

Bryce is not free, and Terragen maps take extra work to be Spring-friendly (I'm referring to slopes and such) in addition to being not free.
I'm sure that if you asked around, someone could give you a pegleg, but don't ask me

I will just start making climates for l3dt
when I do I will post them here for everyone :D

aGorm, Grout works very well for stitching images together. I can probably set up a tutorial if you want.

I own world machine and bryce.
I use them both. I like bryce for it's more complicated texture however, for something that I will be doing more photoshop work in I use world machine.

for what ya'll need maybe freeworld would be a good option. I have used it before because a friend has it and it is pretty well suited for those of you who cannot shell out the 199 for a student version of photoshop.
