How to switch out of the game (and back) ?

Debian Spring user here... Once in the game, no amount of alt-tab or virtual desktop switching will let me switch out of the game. Is there a way to do that, short of exiting the game altogether ? Are application key bindings conflicting with the usual dekstop key bindings ? Once I find that, I'll be ready for serious Anihilation !

Use windowed fullscreen, namely:
just set WindowBorderless=1 in springsettings.cfg
And disable fullscreen, then maximize the window from taskbar or otherwise.

If you want to do that while not having the DE chrome stealing some of your clicks: use this ingame command:

Code: Select all

/grabinput

Looks exactly like what I want, thanks.

Now, I can't find springsettings.cfg in ~/.spring or anywhere else. Is it normal ? Should I create a new one with just that setting ?

edit ~/.springrc

Almost there... I edited ~/.springrc but then found that the Alt-tab key combination is bound to a camera style switch.

So I created a Hotkey Profile and changed

Code: Select all

//bind            Any+tab  toggleoverview
into

Code: Select all

bind            Ctrl+tab  toggleoverview
But Alt-tab is still captured by Spring. Did I forget something ?

I think you may have to do:

Code: Select all

unbind            Any+tab  toggleoverview
bind            Ctrl+tab  toggleoverview

You need to create a separate xserver for spring, then you can switch back and forth between your desktop and spring using CTRL+ALT+Fx.

@liotier:
toggleoverview doesn't what you think it does...

use windowed fullscreen as already suggested.

While I enjoy Spring, creating a new xorg instance just for it seems a bit too involved to me. In addition, I would love to end up with a configuration that I can convince less technical people to adopt : go tell your excited and impatient LAN party pals that they need a second xorg instance...

At the moment I have a 'WindowBorderless = 1' line in my ~/.springrc but, with just that, still no way to Alt-tab out of Spring during a game.

So I also added a 'unbind Any+tab toggleoverview' line to my ~/.spring/uikeys.txt and that was successful in that as any combination involving the <tab> key is indeed unbound. But still no way to Alt-tab out of Spring during a game.

Is my 'WindowBorderless = 1' configuration ignored ? How can I check that it is taken into account ? Is anything else required for Windowed Fullscreen ?

@liotier
I have the same Problem. I temporarily solved it by pluging in an USB-Stick to get out of the game. :-)

-Copy this* file to:
-Steam\steamapps\common\super meat boy\UserData
-Start the game, go to "help + options" and change it to the desired resolution and perhaps set it to full screen, if you'd like.
