Concept cursors

Would like to have some feedback.
You can throw in your own concept art if you like.
Cursors are like a icon, they need to make clear what the action is you are going to preform.
Xect and Mynn need 10 cursor animations and one regular cursor.
Attack, Capture, Defend, Move, Patrol, Pick-up, Reclamate, Repair, Revive, Unload and the "normal" cursor.
...
This is my concept art for those. I use red for defining actions about hostile units, bluish green for friendly related actions, yellow for undefined actions and grey for none of the above (carcasses).
Attack:
Rotating red aim marker.
Capture:
Defend unit:
Rotating blue dot encircled with ... something that may look like guarding.
Move:
Patrol:
Rotating blue dot.
Pick up (Unload with reverse order):
Reclame:
(middle dot should decrease in size and become fuzzy)
Repair/Build:

(middle dot should start small and increase in size and become clearly defined)
Revive:
Version2:

nice, I'm working on an idea where a GroupAI uses virtual untis and not map lines to draw thigns, maybe a blank cursor file combined would give us full 3D cursors.

Crap I like them, specially the little partials with capture, reclame, repair and revive.
That's the new thinking I'm after.
If you have more idea's that are outside the box would love to see some.

a rotating blue dot rotating about its centre would be the same as a stationary blue dot. rotation from any other point would look silly unless it was rotating around a point outside the circle which is what i think u were trying to say. LOVE the kbot repair/reclaim/res thingey! awesome! rise of the peewees!

Anyone else here liked the C&C cursors? I do, and i'd love to recreate similar ones, I don't know what about them I liked, but I just liked them, I also liked the fact they were nice and big.

Those are NICE cursiours. Use version 2 of the restor one though...

eh, the version 2 of the revive feature is not as good. First off, it doesn't fit in with the rest, and second off, the circle works just fine, it's simple, understandable, and universal.

I'll include Paulo's cursors in the next release of Xect vs Mynn, if possible. I like them quite a bit

Fugly. Sorry but those are just awful.

The attack ones are alright, but the others are not to great. To big. And solid.

Well I like them.
(Dont listen to Cyder. He's obvious wozy from jumping into a pool with a toster)
But you might make the circles a little less bland. The attack cursiour is really cool though!

Attack is good, rest are lame.

Alright, that way we can see how they look in game, play around a bit with different versions.
And once we settle on a design I can replace them one by one with some high polygon render made with blender.
Deal?

The "Pick up"/"Unload" cursors are the ones i'm having more trouble conceptualizing. I did some new ones that, probably, fit better the theme:
"Pick up"/"Unload" v2:

The animation (which i can't seem to properly reproduce) should be the small dots growing and moving spiraling to the center in this direction:
"Pick up"/"Unload" v3:
I would like to point out that that is conceptual art, sketches of what the cursors would look like when properly made. That means that they are not polished stuff. Just look at the arrows of the "Patrol" command...
Min3mat wrote:a rotating blue dot rotating about its centre would be the same as a stationary blue dot. ...
I meant the whole cursor. For example, the arrows of the "Patrol" cursor and the ... things on the "Guard" cursor. Of course the blue dot would not rotate or, if it did, it would be unnoticeable. The ones that are meant to rotate (as in a clock) are "Attack", "Defend" and "Patrol" as can be seen by the sequence of images i posted, although it may not be very clear.
Also, about a new set of cursors, i think that if we just go make some copies of a set of cursors we like, it will hardly violate copyrights if they aren't "carbon copies". Also, we may look for GPL cursors of another game. In the
Linux Game Tome we can probably find some RTSs they're own cursors.

theres few... i love making simple cursors... and i like the old TA style in cursors
they should speak forthemselves so i dont need to say what does what
im trying to make cursors where the BOX is allways the "unit"
i could try making other versions from the cursors that doesnt make that "jump" into first frame

I like those Masse.
Perhaps I should make some...hmmm maybe not, I have too much I like to do but don't do...
-Heavy AA Kbot, on hold
-Farm Houses, didn't even start on them
-New infantry for WD, can't get the model right and am getting increasingly frustrated.
probably more things to...gah...

@ Paulo: I like your v2 idea for load/unload (I omitted my vote of "crap" from my first post on the first ones) conceptually.
@Masse: those look cool, polished, but their functions aren't obvious at all (other than the loading one)
