Hello Community,
Spring-MT (not to confuse with spring-multithread) is a version of Spring that makes heavy use of threading and therefor gets far greater performance out of CPUs with 3 cores ore more.
There was great progress in the development and we are now looking forward to test this Version in large scale battles with BA.
To get some games with enough players running we would to like to invite you at
Saturday 30-03-2013, time of day
15:00 (GMT)
What you have to do to join:
1.Download the spring-mt version for your operating system and install it:
Windows installer:
http://springrts.com/dl/buildbot/defaul ... 7f92b3.exe (Recommended to use this)
Executables only:
Windows:

I would like to help test it but I have some questions.
I think I can't install it next to my normal install, right? If so, can I use the exe only's in my normal install?

Yes, you can put the exes in your folder and keep them there. Or if you are on windows you can uninstall 94.0 and use the MT installer, it works on all servers.

I guess the best way to test it is to play speed metal quatro with nuke disable and unlimited unit number :D

Why 'Or'?
I am on windows (7, 64bit). Can i put the exe in the spring dir and test this, and play normal games as well (with the normal exe)?

"Or" depending on whether you want to manually fiddle with the files. If you do it right, the end result is more or less the same. Sorry for the confusion but some novice users don't even know that there is a "Program Files" folder.
Alba: Yeah we should do superspeedmetal.
We had an 1.5 hour long 1v1 yesterday but it is hard to get above 10% CPU in a 2 player game despite lifted unit limit. Seems very stable so far. All hosts should run this imo
May I suggest to postpone this test match until later in the evening? Or... we could of course have several games. I won't join until later though.

Why is there a spring-multithreaded.exe in the win32.zip linked above (
http://springfiles.com/spring/spring-ba ... xecutables)? I thought we're talking about spring-mt here? Does this have any reason?
I mean: I guess the spring-mt.exe is the one I should take? I'm just asking as I'm a bit confused there were two exes in the zipfile ...

Yes, spring-mt is the important one. spring-multithreaded is almost same as the one in 94.0, just a few minor fixes.

I did put the exes in manually. Also tried some renaming of files but can't get it to work. Not gonna mess with separate installs.

I cannot manage to make it work either.
I downloaded the statics linux x64
I use SL.
I set up spring-mt as default executable
It wont launch when I start a game on the MT server

I cant even join the lobby..
[16:11:34] ** Server ** Failed to join battle. Denied by host (This server requires Spring MT 94.01. Install
http://springrts.com/wiki/Spring_MT)
And I already downloaded the portable version and copy pasted the files in my spring dir
(and I also tried the multithreaded fix version once, and it halted at 12 mins in game, so i wont use again)

So you have the spring installation dir, with executables:
spring
spring-multithreaded
spring-mt
And when you type "spring" in the command prompt it starts fine, but "spring-mt" gives a missing font error? Very strange, does not make sense. I'm thinking that you put the executables in the wrong folder, so it cannot find the required files.
By the way, you are not supposed to make any changes in springlobby, just put the executables in the installation folder. It will start the correct executable automatically.

Can't help, not enough info.

.
please define installation folder.
~/.spring
/usr/bin
something else ?
EDIT:
I manage to comile spring 94.1 without any problem, but it does not contain spring-mt
So i went for 94.01 MT, but I got compilation error:

Rename
System/VersionGenerated.h.template
to
System/VersionGenerated.h
Installation folder is the same folder where you have the normal "spring" executable.

OK, I did that I still have the font pb.
FYI, I use mint 14 cinnamon 64bits
I will try to compile the sources (I discuss in lobby with some pips had the same problem than me on ubuntu)

Np. It will probably be a while till there are decent games again. By then MT probably got fixed anyway.
