Zoombie's new book (Kickstarter)

I hadn't posted anything here, but as many of you remember, Zoombie has written many short stories and even novel length stories for the enjoyment of the spring community at large for many years, well, his latest book has been published and there is a kickstarter for the print release. I thought that some of you might be interested in giving a broshake to a fellow springer and no one here has seen it (that I know of).

I posted it on the Evo Dev stream (zoombie wrote the backstory for evo) but AF refused to add it to the main spring page because zoombie called him a name a while back and AF has a personal beef.

Well here it is: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/can ... ris-dreams

He's a good guy and a great and fun writer. I grabbed the $25 tier. :-)

29 Hours left, Show some lurve! :P

Hopefully that answers your question. That isn't all of them, but I made that list based upon a quick perusal of Zoombie's posts on the offtopic forum: http://springrts.com/phpbb/search.php?s ... d%5B%5D=10

Hmmm. Tried to read Waste but it's got an arse-ton of malformed unicode characters so it's basically unreadable. People, Microsoft Word is NOT a HTML editor - if you copy-paste from Word to any HTML editor you are guarenteed to get invalid and bloated HTML for your trouble.

This has been a public-service announcement from the Citizens Committee for Getting Microsoft Shit Off The Internet.

It used to be fine Spliff. Forum fuckup (from years ago) inserted that junk.

Yeah, the forum sends HTML declared as charset=UTF-8 (International Unicode) but the characters look like they are LATIN1 or Windows-1252 with MS extensions (aka, "smart quotes"). The data should have been re-encoded to UTF-8 when the website charset changed but then MS should have used UTF-8 all along so I guess the blame goes both ways.

Probably too late to fix now as the DB will contain a mix of both encodings.

Yeah, MS lack of unicode is a very sore point with me. One of my customers is a translation company, and this shit matters.

Additionally it is an epic pain in the ass trying to explain why this is even a problem to people who are barely computer literate.
