Loop Build?

Is there a Loop Build? It would work similar to loop select. You hold space when building an area and it allows you to draw any shape. It'd be particularly useful for building mexes. A lot of the time on large mapes dragging a square area wouod result in your con units walking directly into the enemy, so you have to manually click all the mexes you want and it takes ages. Loop Build would stop that. Loop Build would solve a ton of problems.

Is your proposed idea to be able to place wind-farms, for example, in shapes other than squares?

I am imagining a build order place commander similar to line bombing. Press alt and drag your structures into a beautiful free form line and the script tessellates them nicely.

I don't understand the mex example, when do you make a square of mexes?

The mex example was pretty bad but it works. If you drag a large square area, mexes will be queued to build on all the mexes in that area in the square. It's a really hacky way of queuing mexes over a large area, for example on a FFA game on throne where an enemy's commander has died so all his mexes are now free.

Yes my main idea lets people build wind farms in shapes other than rectangles.

There isn't one. But feel free to make it yourself - most widgets start life as someones personal project and once they are stable and well used they might get included in BA.

I'd recommend you start by looking at customformations2, since that already has lots of similar functionality. Your mex example is actually a widget, so you might also want to look at that, i think its caleld area_mex.

But obviously be prepared to maintain it. Apparently interfaces(*) arn't intransigent anymore, (i.e. what was published as immutable, probably won't be in the future).

(*) Just an observation from coding stuff in general.

Would be fun for DT.

It's not quite true that you have to maintain your own widgets forever - if we adopt a widget into BA then we'll offer/try to maintain it too.

Use the repeat button on the builder.
