this is a video in hd watch it full screen
This is a sped up recording of me texturing for hours. I only stopped to check on panda who has been sick today. Enjoy the video, I hope you guys can learn some tricks from it.

Very nice. How exactly do you manage your layers there?
The (straight forward) way I do it:
1) background layer (camo or whatever)
2) edges/white shading (transparent raster)
3) dark shading (transparent raster)
Your approach looks like you are using a mask layer? I am not using Photoshop as it is far too expensive - so I may be mistaking there.

I use a color overlay for blue and green, a few brightness contrast layers(because rts has to have high contrast at distance for visibility)

if you watch closely around here I am playing with my adjustment layers(the part I use for color and global brightness contrast).
diffuse layer for textural detail which I flatten any new details down into.
the background is always the texture map adjusted so the diffuse texture can be set to screen and the mapping is visible any time I want.
At full screen you should be able to see all my settings as the text is readable.
