One of the keys brings up a video recording thing - try pressing all the keys. There should also be something in the wiki or readme.

Spring doesn't record video to standard video formats, it records to a signifgantly more compressed type that can only be played in the spring engine. Every game you play has a demo recorded of it. What you need to do is find the demo of the game you want to record to video and open it with the spring demo player function accessable from client under "Replays". Then you will need a third party peice of software like Fraps (google it) to screencapture what is going on as you replay your demo. You are going to need to find out how to use Fraps from it's own software doctumention, I kind of doubt anyone here would be able to walk you though it...

End result you will have whatever segments of the demo you recorded in Fraps as a series of short video files that you can then put into any video editing software and compile to whatever type of video you want.

Really the question "how do I make videos for TAS" is essentially "how do I make videos for all games?", we can only tell you the best conditions to try to record from in TAS, we aren't video editors here. You will have alot more luck learning how to properly use Fraps and video editing software from thier respective forums, TAS isn't a film direction suite.

Spring does have an internal video recorder, it uses the DivX encoder (this is how all the pre-release drool-inducing movies on the download page were created). I think the button is V, but I'm not completely sure.

Edit: Ah, V, that's it. I knew it was close to C.

V for Video.

Becareful though, using it in multiplayer can cause you to lag out of a game, it should be moved further away from the first person control key.

Sadly there is no way to disable the "we draw stuff on the map" feature.
I had a lot of trouble with that: http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2806
I prefer Fraps, not only does it record sound, but it's more functional overall.

Lower quality and watermarks though.

Be sure to select a codec before starting to record (like xvid...) selecting things like uncompressed bmp could be very stressfull for your system.

Some codecs have crashed spring for me aswell.

Not sure of good a recording setup...

one thing i notticed.. is that no matter the speed spring is running.. it does record at 1*

I noticed that updating divx to the latest version makes Spring fail to record with any of the codecs. Maybe it just hates me, or maybe I should have tried a couple more, or maybe it doesn't do that under the new Spring version so its not even an issue anymore
