Balanced Annihilation Website

About a week ago, I posted some suggestions as to how the Spring Engine can become more independent of the game projects, and the most urgent message I got from the feedback was moving all the BA content out of the wiki and onto its own website.

Disclaimer: I just created the website, its still VERY buggy, slow, and doesn't have very much content. Plus, because I'm cheap I got free hosting and a free domain, which exacerbates the situation.

Anyways, check it out, tell me what you think.

Hi abq911,

In fact I had already talked to Beherith that I was working on the new BA website (I'm webdesigner  ). It will be released as soon as the new name will be decided (so the domain can be fixed).

It'd be a lot more efficient for people to work together. Perhaps all the people interested in being part of the website should post in this thread, in the absence of a development team publicly managing it.

Indeed we could have 5 or 6 sites but that would do more harm than good.

I had plans to build a site, but it appears nobody has taken any notice and gone ahead themselves.

some sort of wiki on a reliable host would be a good start.

Hi abq! The site looks nice, but I wish you had expressed your intent earlier, as I already agreed with marciolino on him making the site :(

I was going to make a site too but it seems there are more than enough people willing to do the job so I'll stick with a Spring Network mini-site again :P

Once a version with all the models is released, I'll probably take a bunch of High Res screenies and upload them for all to use. The only reason I didn't do that with the screenshots I took for KP and CA was because of my horrendously slow upload speed. But once I get back to uni I should be able to upload many goodies.

nothing wrong with people making sites, maybe it will help you see features you may want to see in the final shop.

Looks better than what I expected but the css has some issues. I'm glad someone did this website finally.

It's all good, it was just a test website to see responses feedback, no issues. Do you want me to take it down to avoid conflict, or keep it up for future reference? I completely don't care either way, whichever Behe and marciolino agree upon is fine with me.

I agree, nobody likes to have to choose between 5 websites to find a single game.

Thanks

I see like 5 people (at least) have wanted to make a BA website at one point or another, and most it seems like stopped because of the whole BAR thing. However, in my opinion its much better to start now, make a nice website, and then once BA gets ported you can setup a new website, force a redirect, but website is already done, you just have to rename stuff, delete a ton of the old stuff, and its all set.

Looks good to me. Considering that all the other people where were planning to make one haven't started yet, they should probably just work with you since you have a good looking start already.

The other efforts aren't public but that doesn't mean work hadn't started. Some people started a BA site months ago when I first offered.

Since he's using WordPress, his focus should be on theme development. What content there is can be decided by Beherith etc, and the actual installation of WordPress can be left to others. For example I could easily set up and tweak a site to run superfast given a theme to work with, and the content shouldn't depend on the theme at this stage anyway, as it'll likely be completely redone when the site is closer to going live

This whole community is about redundancy, there is not even ½ player for each [insert anything here]. We have so many [insert anything here] that any one of them could vanish and we would not even take notice.
