Spring RTS Engine

what it says on the box really.

This has happened to me before, but was related to an icon manager program (the name of which I cannot recall), the problem 'solved' itself when I un-installed it. 3-4 months later it has stopped working again (on the same windows install)

2 hours later... System HDD is formatted and windows re-installed. Upspring still will not start.

Currently installed:
Windows XP SP2
NVidia 266.58 drivers
various other drivers
Avast antivirus
Spring
SpringLobby
Setpoint 6.20.50

Note that this happens with ALL versions of UpSpring, but not with *any* other program.

which version do you use?

did you reinstall upspring? see http://springrts.com/wiki/Upspring

None of them worked.

you have any custom windows themes active ?
i had the same problem and it was fixed by activating the original theme

same with the themes for me... i can't even select anything in windows themes directly to make upspring work; its a matter of starting fireworks first to force-change the theme to something specific (some compatibility mode)

same with springmapedit... perma-crash unless i have fireworks open

not complaining either, i'm just glad i figured out how to get them working on windows vista

Right click on executable, properties, comparability tab. One of the checkboxes is for disabling aero.

That said, I have never had any trouble with upspring and aero.
