Has anyone ever gotten into a closed beta testing program like that? I know I've signed up for dozens and never once gotten admitted before open testing started.

I think that passes are usually given to acquaintances and people in contact with the project and those in turn give a few invites to their own friends etc...

Looks like Heroes and AoE go MMO.. there's been a wee bit too much fantasy for my tastebuds lately.

Looks like it might be good. Although the video mainly shows the setting not the gameplay so I really have no idea. The little gameplay shown indicates some kind of city building game with tactical map battles.

I still have very little idea about wha'ts the gameplay like, and how good it is technically.

How much we can build our own fort or have to stick to premade ones, how well behave the pathfinding in messy battles, how large are battle area, what is there to do between battle, could really make or break the game.
