i hadn't heard of any of this except the legendary russian sniper...
the airplane gun turned into a rifle is epic, as is the armored car
i'm sure they missed some in the article, so lets hear about them (seems to be about ww2 only)

That takes the cake.
Libyan Rebel strike vehicle, made from a pickup truck and what appears to a rocket launcher from an attack helicopter.

can also be used as speed booster.
btw I don't think IED or mines qualify as "bad ass weapon" just because they might be efficient. Actually they are the most lame.

The aircraft gun turned into a rifle reminds me of the Lahti L-26. The Finns had an internally designed anti tank rifle which came with a ski mounting and was designed to puncture 20mm armour. Unfortunately for them, tank design marched on, and most tanks after 1940 had much thicker armour... so the Finns took off the ski/pintle mount point and formed two person teams to use it as an anti-aircraft rifle.

Libyan rebels have an endless supply of improvised 'armor'.
http://shushpanzer-ru.livejournal.com/tag/ðøð©ð▓ð©ÐÅ - here is a collection of photos of those (in Russian, but pics should be understandable anyway).

slightly OT: looking at these photos of the libyan rebels is very humanizing... i mean, i was well aware of the conflict in the country and have seen news coverage and figured i was pretty aware...
but then you see stuff like this guy holding RPGs with a big grin on his face, or the guy working on the ammo with a messi jersey (i got the same one, but i sure as hell wouldn't wreck it up by wearing it in the mud) or the guy in the crash helmet in the office chair with the rifle; these are all people just like me :/ i could probably sit down with these dudes and joke around and have a beer or share a meal or something.
i wish these unlucky people a massive change in fortune, and i thank my own luck for putting me in a peaceful corner of this ugly, messed up world

Those people somehow don't look like they are fighting to me. More like a show for the reporters. Are there any pics of actual battles, so that we can see who they are shooting at? (because most of the time they seem to just shoot up in the air).
Of course taking photos in the line of fire is dangerous, but there should be at least some, seeing how widespread devices capable of taking them are today.
