Hack, Slash and Crawl... right in your browser!

Haven't played yet because there are too many people in the office right now for people not to notice me playing a rogue-like... but looks very promising.

Sadly, your browser does not support WebSockets.

The following browsers can be used to run WebTiles:

Chrome 6 and greater
Firefox 4, after disabling the network.websocket.override-security-block setting in about:config
Opera 11, after enabling WebSockets in opera:config#Enable%20WebSockets
Safari 5
Lol yeah, how about no?

Sorry... are you seriously avoiding this because of that message?

I laugh at your noobie paranoia.

"OMG, I'm ascared and don't want to use Chrome because it's new and different and would never even think of enabling experimental features in my browser!!!"

Whatever... Mom.

edit: You are all trolling me right?

i dont use chrome because it takes 5gigs of hdd space and it will make constant updates nightmare i just cant deal with. and uninstalling it isnt trivial.

or did they change it yet? whatever it was, i remember removing chrome FOR A VERY GOOD REASON. So... i aint touching it again. UNLESS you can confirm its safe to use now? doesnt force me to download all google crap with it etc? doesnt ship an update manager that i cannot disable and which will pop up 10 times a day?

I haven't had any of the problems you've just described with chrome... it's only taking up about 1.6GB of space (and much of this is archival copies of old versions I can delete if I so choose)... I didn't have the option of installing any other google "crap"... it does update all the time, but it does so from within the application.

That "update manager" you're talking about is still available but it's called the "Google Pack" now... and while it can be used to install the Chrome browser it is no longer a requirement.

But it's not telling you to install some goofy plugin... it's telling you you need to use one of these four mainstream browsers that support a new web technology... and in the case of two of them you need to manually enable the feature because it's still experimental.

i wouldnt mind about the space it takes, but it FORCED me to use my precious SSD disk (had windows installed on it) space which is limited to 30gigs only. So... does it let you choose the path where it stores that crap now? I hate it so much when programs wont let me choose things like that.

No, I don't think so... it automatically installs to your AppData directory... so you've have to have mapped that somewhere else that would work...

Oddly enough, if you install it using the "Google Pack" update manager thing I mentioned... apparently it installs it to Program Files instead... so either you get it in userspace or you have to deal with the Google Pack... :P

That said... as I mentioned... it's only the archival copies that take up the space... chrome itself only takes up about 170MB...

edit: Also, apparently this magic link let's you install it by standalone msi and thereby this installs it where you want it:

http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?msi=true

edit again: ACK! MSI chrome overrides userspace Chrome... and it still doesn't allow you to specify the folder (installs automatically to program files)
