I've been told I need to read the books so I'm skipping the show for now.

some books by some author
i've read some of those before, i bet it was the same ones!

this show is awesome, lots of titties. its only based on one book "a song of ice and fire". the pace of the book lends itself well to a movie/show application and i feel is the strongest aspect of the tale overall.

anyways the guy who writes the books is all "hnnggg im slow"; it was about 5 years since i read book #4 in the series and he STILL hasn't released #5. what a lazy jackass.

As it happens, I have been reading (well, listening really) A Song of Ice and Fire past few weeks and it's been quite entertaining. Didn't know they were making a TV series, need to check it out. I can definently recommend the books though.

The TV series will be based on the whole series of books its only the title that is the first book, the first season based on "A Game of Thrones", the next on the next book etc.

Wasn't Harry Potter handled in the same way?

afaik, the first movies were out before the last book was written...

So should I read the books afore I watch this? I have yet to see one book adaptation that has not followed the traditional premise of "shit on the core plot points of the book from great heights, remove as much depth and complexity as we can".
