they belive in introucing images should stop it but it is wrong

I'm happy because I was thinking about captchas while I had my morning pee and coffee break, and now I get to share it because you brought it up:

The term "CAPTCHA" implies an automated process. I propose a manual process as follows, the user is presented with an image selected randomly from twitter and is asked to describe the image in between 100 and 200 words... or perhaps compose a poem (or haiku) inspired by the image.

These images and texts will be available for any user to see and vote for or against... when an image receives 10 positive votes (or is approved by a Moderator) the user is sent their activation email or whatever.

i thought an alternative
maybe how about when a new user registers he can post only to a limited forums and needs to be approved by a moderator?
or make it a list where it goes more public and users can choose it
yes i know there is already something similar but when for example 2 new registers in a short time line you see only one of the two

spam bots are fucking annyoning especially as moderator and asking the question (is this a spambot or not?)

maybe should the user provide some info just generaly nothing special to proove he isnt a spambot

i wish there is a groupd that shutdowns those pesky spambots i think we should give them a new name

the term "spam" is poor.

We don't want people posting advertising or links to sites... but if I want to legitimately recommend a game or product or link to a site I think is interesting I don't want to be hindered by the same restrictions.

An example, on some forums a user cannot post links or images in their first week/first X number of posts etc... but this is unhelpful because most people's first posts are "OMG SOMETHING WENT WRONG HERE'S A SCREENSHOT AND A LINK TO MY ERROR LOG".

The idea of limiting new users to a specific forum and then posting a warning on that forum that it could contain tracking-images or spam links and having to request to a moderator to activate the account may be useful... but given that moderation is infrequent during some windows (like weekends) would make this annoying.

that is why user apporval or moderation approval kicks in
they should be able to dedice if he should be able to post links and such

Kitten captcha is supposed to work pretty good against actual bots. But honestly, I think most of the spammers we have here broke in through the Chinese captcha buster slavecamps.
