Spring Aircraft bugs

Have a look. I originally reported this bug on mantis, but after much arguing and people telling me that it's a non issue I finally have the ability to make a video of it.

http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=2187

It seems like my mantis bug was dismissed without any real looking into it, also, kloot used an ages old version of evo to look at it with which really doesn't help matters much.

Current revision is: 775. Kloot used 694. Now, it's worth noting that aircraft haven't changed at all since r367, but it irks me that such an old version was used. Spring has changed tons since then and evo itself has come far since then as well.

Maybe by crossposting, it will get some attention.

ct aircraft do the same thing. I wonder if it has to do with taking off a raised platform or something.

Well apparently kloot took personal offense at this, which I don't understand at all (After all, he was the only one that even bothered to look from what I could tell), but regardless, it is closed now so I can't reply.

As I mentioned in the original report, units when replaced by lua will (no matter how high in the air it is done) immediately teleport to the ground. The easiest way to replicate this is to use the morph gadget to turn a plane into a submarine.

The video I posted was an example of only one of the behaviors that I was reporting. If I should not lump many bad behaviors regarding related things into a single bug report, then ok, just tell me that. I didn't know that that was the wrong thing to do (even though I can understand how that would be annoying/confusing from the developer side of things).

I was not trying to single you out and "Shame" you kloot. I'm actually a little upset that you would even think that I would try to do something like that, especially to you specifically, because you should know better than that. :? Regardless, I'm sorry that it seemed that that was the case, but you got the wrong idea.

I posted this topic because it's on the forums and would garner a little bit of attention. Also, because every time you guys close the bug report (if it's not actually resolved), I have no way to explain further (so I have to reopen it and look like some sort of asshole trying to beat a dead horse into the afterlife). It's quite frustrating actually. So as a result, I post this thread so that I can make comments like this without crapping up the bug reporter.

The title of your report reads "Units when built, no matter where, upon completion get teleported to the ground" (not "units spawned by Lua, no matter what altitude, get teleported to the ground", which would fit your submarine example), and the very first description you give of this mentions an aircraft factory. So I looked at the issue with the expectation that I would see aircraft jumping instantly to ground level right after being built (which would be the usual interpretation of "teleport") and found I couldn't reproduce it in the expected form, triggering the unfriendly-toned thread here. Then you post a video supposedly illustrating this teleporting behavior for said factory when in fact it shows an entirely different problem (now fixed FYI) that can not even be considered teleportation, and finally you say you just lumped the two examples together thinking they were related, which is not the case at all. If you had done this from the start, your original spawning bug might have been taken care of already.

The lesson? Be precise and concise or you end up wasting everyone's time.

I was, and it was happening in the version of spring which I posted.

The gunships in evo would finish being built and immediately be teleported to the ground and then rise up through the platform to flying height.

It was a bunch of related issues having to do with aircraft. My report was an attempt to lump them all together.

i also have a raised plattform that builds aircraft.
found if you select the aircraft while it is being built and put the land/fly toggle to "fly" it will not get teleported to the ground.
now ill see if there is an alwaysFly=true tag or a way to put the toggle to "fly" with Lua and then its closenough.jpg for me...
