And 80% desert.
There are no Spring Aussies, only NZ gun freaks and hitler-wannabes. My kind of people tbh.

There are cities in Australia for whom the water is piped hundreds of miles across entire states, drought in some areas of australia is a major problem

The funny names are because 90% of outback towns have Aboriginal names.
Yeah we just had a long drought. One minute farmers are praying for rain, the next for it to stop!

In some parts yeah. It was blamed on "El Nino". As someone pointed out though the center of Australia is a giant desert so technically there are areas that have been in drought for 1000's of years.

This is how much is underwater at the moment:
Smoth: Yeah, most of Australia was in drought for the last 10 years.
The areas that are out of drought are along the eastern seaboard, where most of the major cities are.
New South Wales officially declared itself drought-free towards the end of last year. Victoria is out of drought too now thanks to the soaking rain we've been receiving on-and-off throughout the past 6 months.
And as SpliFF said, it's a periodic phenomena.

I have a bunch of relatives in Australia... I wonder if visiting there will be cheaper now that they have developed a reputation for being under water.

I just feel, with the added weight of the water in just one area.. and the large population.. My fear is that it could cause Australia to.. tip over, and, uh, and capsize..
