Spring RTS Engine

we have a community here with enough differences and enough people here who have conflicting views. Is this really the place for such discussion, does it really belong here? I can understand threads like OMG SOMEONE BLEW UP THE EIFFEL TOWER or ROME JUST SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTED. Those would be pretty major events.

Honestly though, political and religious views are highly personal and often times things that are highly inflammatory in nature. They have little to do with spring projects, playing them or developing them. While I can understand that these discussions can be civil I do not believe they will often be. There are more appropriate sites for this sort of banter and raging, does it really belong here?

If you don't want to discuss such topics here, then don't. Personally I don't even read 99% of Offtopic.

I can but I wanted to ask/put the notion forward and see how people felt.

I believe political discussion should be allowed as political opinions are usually formed for specific reasons and solid debates can take place quite easily. However, religious discussion will often root to a simple matter of personal belief where argument for reason becomes a lot harder to express, if present at all. Not to mention, it usually ends up becoming a personal quote war between two or three people rather than discussion about the religion in question itself.

as long as politicians change all the time, together with politics i think there is some point in discussion. but religion never changes so i dont really know whats the point of wasting time (and no, pope talking about condoms doesnt count)

and seriously, both topics are boring and every person here talks same shit all the time...

I dont look into these threads often, even less post in them. Religion and politics are best discussed in a pub with friends. There is no beer on tap here.

That said, I dont mind these threads, if people want to participate in them, there is nothing stopping them.
