OK i dedicated 2 days to this, im essencialy looking for how to improve my skills, both texture/model wise.

I like it keep going. The real clincher for me will be if you pull off the specular/glow well enough

i was thinking of that to ill post some basic texture styles im trying to achieve.

the uvmaps are fail but theyr a simple drawing
pls give opinion in what you like best :wink:

I think the grey is going to be the most visible but the black if the contrast is increased could be nice as well and feel both should stay.

btw, 1024 is a bit of a waste on small and medium units. Save that size for large things that way you can have consistent level of detail.

d-d-d-double post.

the problem with hte black is that it will contrast tooo much on bright maps like say my snow or desert maps.

np. big thing is to get them in game. Look at them on:

Green maps ( to see how they fair against strong color)
(greenfields, edola)

Snow maps (to see if too dark)
(rocky glacier)

Desert maps (to see if too bright)
(desert triad, messa)

Urban(to see if grey is too stong)
(new lammas, gunmetal)

I have no model texturing skills to speak of, so feel free to disregard, but i feel the problem with the textures is that they lack definition. You have the same kind of metal-ish texture on most of the unit, no differenciation between faces or parts of the unit.

thats what i want for starters to get a base to work with, then i can add details in :wink:

anyways feel free to post coments i dont mind at all

good as always scifi

i think with specular and bumpmap, they would look amazing

for teamcolor application i would go for large segments instead of lines ayhahhh 2:0 arsenal but anyways for example, the first model i would color the nose-cone teamcolored and perhaps the two outermost rear engines as well

but its only opinion, all looks gravy in my eyes

edit: arsenal scored twice in the time it took to write this post
