Now, to show your true thanking, how many of you would be willing to pay for this engine?

I made few dozen of maps, new cool mods, and epic video of spring!
Not to mention my replays site, maps site, mods site. Time wasted 50000 hours in all that.... Its not me who should be donating here, ive paid my bills.

So you've made a few non-engine related fan stuffs, well done. When we use the term "dev" on this forum, we generally mean the Engine developers, seeing as this is the forum for the "Spring Engine". Anybody can say, "I've contributed in some way!".
Although I admire a lot of your work it doesn't make you some kind of tax-free pirate.

Most people only play the game and use others work, and contribute nothing else than their ass in the player list.

and making them pay for then engine would help HOW?
donating to the server fund is saying directly thanks without corrupting spring's purity with capitalistic monetary drive. It's like we are all eating pizza and some of us put some money together for drinks for all.

We could buy people to fix the bugs then

+ do all the dirty work for us.

ha ha ha yeah right. Real developers cost serious money and even then you are not guarantied that their "fix" is going to be elegant.

We could save for 5 years, and then get epic pathfinding in return, worth trying...
Theres nothing we can lose.

Hmm... better idea... lets make a competition on the internet who makes best pathfinding algorithm and the winner gets 50000Ôé¼ from our spring donations.
You think we cant get 10Ôé¼ from 5000 players? Well, even 10000Ôé¼ prize is epic. This would give a lot of publicity as well.

This is one example of a post that turns into 0 sense after it's been crunched through the Neddie machine.

I agree with Trademark.
Start sending money to my pay pal account and in a few years we'll hire a dev.

if i ever made a successful commercial game with spring, rest assured there would be compensation for engine devs
the problem though, if i was sitting here with 50k euro, how do i split it up and pay everyone; how does the pie get divided? seems like it could cause a rage meltdown of epic proportions.
i mean trademark granted you've made stuff, what percentage of the 50k do you feel you'd be entitled to, were spring a commercial product rather than open sauce
its hard to even zero in on a number; and i dare say that 50k wouldn't even dent the sheer number of hours people have plonked into this project over the years.

and that isn't considering the actual games, mods and maps
