It's a faction, still WIP, see crap below.
Either way just thought it was neat and wanted to share what I had done today.

cool.
actually there was nanoblobs which was quite similiar to this. (some units could build copies of themself without needing resources)
problem is, the build-units-like-buildings is fail.
lolz iam announcing mah lua.

You might look into how units cloned in E&E. I think that was a mixed lua effort.

I chose to do it this way so ct could have some kind of single player.

Been fiddling with it for a fair chunk of the day.
I'm questioning calling them "replicators" I might be stepping on Stargate's Intellectual Property. Might go with the a more generic name "drone".
Unit List:
Drone: (seen in picture above) It's a builder and basic warrior unit. All terrain and submersible. Can assist,Can capture,
Flying Drone: Kind of just like the drone but without legs.
Factory: Produces all the units, Collect's metal, and acts a defense.
Mine: It's a mine, it can build more mines.
Dedicated Warrior Unit: This one is still in the works. Don't really know what to do about it.

That's about all I have in the works for this faction at the moment.

will this be something like chicken or something like wildlife found on maps or a player faction?

I wanted to try playable faction first. It if just can't be made fun that way then they can just be taken out.
I'm not sure if ct lends itself to chicken defense very well given how mobile you have to be.
Gia units could be neat. It was always fun luring the wolves to the enemy mining camp in AoK.

I see you're tasting the heat, and not the meat.
If you're not wanting to fix the yardmap on the factory, just set it to [[c]] for now, and I'll fix it when I get internets back.

replicators models all look nice ingame.
i guess the flying drone has some effects when lups is enabled?
in nanoblobs you had "sheep" that could build more sheep, just like the kdrone could build more kdrones.
so the only limit to growth is how quickly you get bored of dragging lines of units etc.
units that really replicate on their own are possible with lua, see the replicator thing i made but never got feedback on...
units can not leave the factory because its yardmap is oooooo oooooo oooooo oooooo oooooo oooooo
o being solid

Yes the flying drone has some lups. Once i get them "balanced" I would like to use them as surivial mode units or something as well as a playable faction. So that will probably come into play once i work the general kinks out. Oh, I thought o meant "open" and c meant closed. I think i've fixed it now.

did u consider 'replicator-defense' ? when it dies, replicator spawns 2 smaller one, then 2 spawns 4 smaller one etc etc

I have and would like to do that to an extent. Sadly this faction has fallen flat on it's face in every respect. AI's can't use it very well because they don't understand units building units.

I'm pretty much tempted to throw this faction in the trash now. If anyone wants to see how awful it is, it's in the game as a playable faction at the moment. Also factories can not be metal extractors. What's up with that? Well this is what i get for not doing research I suppose.
