Alright so i have not played this game in awhile, but when i decide to play again, i open up the spring lobby, update my clients (spring.exe and spring lobby), then i set up a match. I press the Start button, the screen flickers black, the spring cursor renders, then i am brought back to the spring lobby with an error looking like this

Needed OpenGL extension(s) not found:
GL_ARB_multitexture GL_ARB_texture_en_combine
GL_ARB_texture_compression
Update your graphic-card driver!
graphic card: GDI Generic
OpenGL version: GDI Generic

Despite the Update your Graphic-card driver messaged, my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 is updated to version 10.8. I have no idea what to try next. I have also tried to run it on the multithreaded exe. Also i tried to run it using all the lowest graphic options available.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

If that really is the latest driver, I'm guessing you have hardware acceleration disabled on your system.

Try
Control panel --> Display --> Settings --> Advanced --> Troubleshoot
and make sure the slider is at max.

Does any other OpenGL game work?

Yeah that is the problem. Alright so i went to that menu, and the button is grayed out for some reason. -_-

Also, openGL games that i know of that ive played on my laptop are :
StarCraft2
and World of Warcraft

Hmm, some generic system fuckup maybe, or your driver comes with some (incredibly stupid) proprietary control panel that overrides the default one.

If I'm not mistaken, SC2 and WoW are mostly Direct3D.

MAC does not have DX support and SC2 supports MAC.

Yeah, I think it uses OpenGL on the mac version only.

Try some OpenGL benchmark to confirm that OpenGL is broken on your system

you can not download OpenGL 2.0, it only may be supported by your GFX driver, or not. As you said you installed the latest driver already, i doubt you can change that.

Alright i got this all figured out now. I found a catalyst version of 10.10 and i applied it. Apparently my other driver downloads were corrupt or i installed them on cheap drugs. -_-

Anyway your help is greatly appreciated. I cant thank ya enough.

Resolved!
