Spring in VMWare Fusion

I recently updated to the latest version of Fusion (taking advantage of the cheap upgrade) and noticed that it now supports OpenGL 2.1 fully, so I decided to give Spring a try again in it.

Unfortunately, it still gives me an error message, stating the following extensions are missing:

Code: Select all

gl_arb_multitexture
gl_arb_texture_env_combine
gl_arb_texture_compression
I've run glview to check the OpenGL compatibility, and all these extensions are reported as present, so for some reason Spring itself isn't detecting properly?

Has anyone successfully run Spring inside VMWare?

I ran spring in VMware Player 2.5.4 running a Ubuntu 9.04 image.
Not very helpful as it was using software rendering via MESA library and you are trying to do it in windows?

I'm trying to run it in Windows XP SP3 inside VMware Fusion 3.1.1 running on Mac OS X 10.6.4. It supports hardware accelerated OpenGL 2.1 fully, apparently, but Spring doesn't seem to think so (yet other programs seem quite happy).

Hmm.... interesting... just tried again and it worked... and then VMWare crashed and it took 2 attempts to get Win XP to boot again.

And now it's working... default settings slowed down a bit... tweaking to see if I can't get decent performance
