A radical idea about balance discussion

prefix any post that discusses mod balance with amount of times that you played the mod online in the past 2 months, exact value isn't necessary, a simple order of magnitude will suffice
for example, in this thread we got:
1v0ry_k1ng: 0
Sucky_Lord: 0
AF: 0
pintle: 5-10
Gota: 10-30
raaar: 10-30
Jools: 50-100
Deadnight Warrior: 50-100
babbles: 100-300

and suddendly everything in the thread becomes much less complicated and everything self explanatory

I'll get flamed in 5...

BasiC played way more than Gota.
Why you include me in this derogatory list anyway?
I was just offering my suggestions if t2 vehi are indeed under powered.
I never claimed they are or are not..
I just know 100% that the commanders presence nerfs slow, heavy expensive units by a big factor-this is just common sense,so much so that even AF can state this and it will be true.
I agree that i definitely lack the experience to truly say if t2 vehs are oped or not ESPECIALLY in XTA 1v1 since such games are so rare.
I think my post reflected my position on that list with high accuracy
I think that even babbles, who probably plays the most, doesn't have much(or should i say enough) experience with XTA 1v1.

There is a huge issue with xta balance since it doesnt really get stress tested much at all.
It might be perfect ATM but due to the low player count very evident balance truths are not exposed.

I'd guess Most of these balance reports are based on team play where situations of established front lines are way more common than 1v1(or small team big map) dynamic gameplay of constant raiding and pressure.

my intention was more to show that those who talk the loudest are those who don't play since months/years/never played at all
Gota wrote:BasiC played way more than Gota.
please, stop talking in 3rd person when talking about your different account names and using ambiguous terminology intentionally
Gota wrote:Why you include me in this derogatory list anyway?
because you posted there, I was simply showing an analysis of the posters there; why are you so overly defensive? I didn't point you specifically, in fact, I didn't post any ad-personam personal consideration in my first post, it was simply the application of the method I was suggesting; the list as whole is not derogatory, altho if you take a subset of it ( which I didn't suggest at all, just hinted about without an explicit rule, you seem to have made up your own rule which apparently included yourself and implied I used the same ), it could.

don't drive this thread offtopic, I just used the other as case example for my point, that's the reason I made a separate one, this thread is about people who don't play, and keep posting about balance changes

Who has most total time in game?
Who played most 1v1 in XTA?
Who had longest time at top of 1v1 ladder? (lololol)
Who won a higher proportion of their 1v1 games?
Who has played since '05 and watched balance change throughout each iteration?

Pick some random variables, attribute merit to the post based on which of those variables the poster possesses, not the content of the post. YAY BALANCE THREAD!111!!

Explain me how someone can even remember the dynamics how stuff works in a complex game (which even changes over time!) when the last time he played was several months/years/never, this is more what I wanted to show; perhaps I should've used "last time played
would you accept advice on buying a new pc from someone who last had anything to do with one was in the 80's ?

btw my proposal wasn't 100% serious about the stats, but the fact I just mentioned really irritates me.
it's also funny to see that even people I hadn't intention to criticize (I purposefuly left my post a bit vague about that to see who'd feel guilty about himself ) instantly assumed the worst and jumped at my throat

oh, and in the case anyone is going to argue that "my intention was more to show that those who talk the loudest are those who don't play since months/years/never played at all" is a bit different from the first post so I am switching argument in self defense; pintle, babbles, and several others can witness I already said the real argument multiple times in the lobby, the real reason is in the previous paragraph

Lets hold a 1v1 tournament at the end of each month to decide xta dev?

Wait, this means Citrus would have some authority with balance...

Why should balance be based on 1v1s if 1v1s aren't played... and if the aim is to bring a bigger player base why concentrate on 1v1s, surely games should be balanced primarily on team based play?

you cant balance based on team games.its absurd.

First Off,
Games of XTA played in total:7 to 10
Games in total won: 1 or 2.
Number of XTA 1v1's I've played ever: 2
Last time I played XTA: Either this month or last month.
General Opinion of XTA: "pretty fun"

Just wanted to chime in with a question about balance in general.
If a game is well balanced in a 1v1 won't it be well balanced in team scenarios and if not, why is this the case?
