Spring won't load up

Okay so ATi 4850 10.8, with both clouds options on high and 3d it crashed on loading sky, turned them off and now get this:

Using Ubuntu 10.04
After some testing, lowest and low settings work - anything above crashes. Will try and fiddle around and see what causes it directly.
Found the problem seems any amount of AA causes the crash!
May want to add that to ATi FAQ?
