ATI 10.8 driver issues?

Hi
since i installed the 10.8 driver on a fresh win7 x64 i got some random freezes in spring
the freezes are 1-5 sec long and the sound will stop too
the hardware mouse cursor will work in this freeze time!
also the animation of mousecursor is working while freezed
after the freeze - it "resyncs" the game and i get a red "lag-o-meter" icon on the adv playerlist for me one sec.
does somebody else have those freezes?
i have ATI 5870 with 10.8
on W7 x64
singlethreaded spring version (standard download version)
startet over tasclient 0.77
@ core i7960 @ 4ghz
6gb 1600 ram
creative x-fi newest driver
im running spring in 2560x1600

Try running Spring with audio turned OFF. It could be not video issue.
To achieve this set in springsettings.cfg:

to turn it off, you have to set NoSound=1.
i agree though, that double negative is kind of bad. :D

no sound had no effect
and the ingame alt+b graph says, that interface and gfx rendering what goes to astronomical height, if the freeze occurs

Freezes occur on certain locations of the map or just randomly? Isn't it mod/game specific?

i did now some lower graphic settings (AAfiltering, bumpmapping, AI stuff from gfxdriver and so on) and its getting better - but its not away.

Are you sure you're not running the MT version? The symptoms you described are pretty much exactly what happens to me when lups runs in the mt version.

lups off
singlethreaded spring
and its with 10.4 driver the same
-btw - sound does not disrupt if the freezes occur
if i start atitool with fps counter - the counter freezes too (no repaint of the overlay)

If the ATT freezes too. Its obviously a driver/system problem not a Spring one.
Try to remove all the ATi stuff from the system. Then try some utilities like Driver Cleaner, Driver Sweeper, etc. to clean it properly.
Then install latest Cat package. You should also have fully updated and trojan free OS.
If this above wont help I would recommend a clean OS install

Cat 10.8 resolved the texturing problem. The instability problem is Spring related, because the problems started right after its update.
Disabling AntiAliasing == AA 1x might help at some systems.

of course i have the problem found
i changed many things yesterday and i whatched a replay and there was no freeze
what i changed was:
1. i deactivated many windows services (W7 x64) who are not needed
2. i saw, that i had set the max simultan sounds in springsettings to 94 and i set it to 5 now
3. i deactivated many widgets in spring
i will now reproduce the problem and test as first the maximal sounds with "100" simultan. so i hope that bring the problem back and i can be sure, that this was the main problem

Quite a few computers have compatibility problems with SSDs. Not sure why, maybe they are just too fast, or too slow, because they usually have no cache built in. Either way, gotta be some bugs in the hdd cntrllr or bios.
