Spring RTS Engine

I download the latest version of TASpring. I install and start the lobby and it tells me the lobby has an update available. The update downloads and installs and says it needs to restart the lobby but then just freezes. When I restart manually the lobby stops responding often. I have tried playing without the update but the problem persists. I am on XP home edition.

You're downloading the wrong game.

You could be more helpful by telling us what lobby you're actually using.

hum well I go to the download section of this site and get the Spring RTS engine which gives me a file called spring_0.81.2.1.exe. After installing that it asks me if I want to auto update the lobby so I guess it's whatever the latest version of the lobby is but I have tried playing using the lobby that spring_0.81.2.1.exe installs by default and still no go.

Try this lobby client and see if it works for you, download link is at the top.

the lobby works better but no my commander textures are all messed up. I have installed spring several times and till messed up textures does anyone have a copy of the previous version of spring?

Messed up textures? Maybe you have ATI driver >= 10.5
