What is/was Planet Wars?

TA lobby plus meta game server, you fought over planets risk style as represented by specific maps.

This sounds cool, Is it still going on?

Doubtful.

I have no idea if it's currently capable of running, but either way I don't think any of the CA autohosts are running it right now.

You see, the way PW worked was it was the autohosts. You'd use a PW autohost to arrange a battle on the map. Those are currently set to run conventional CA.

But either way, CA is lucky to have 1 game going at a time, so a Planetwars campaign (PW was made for CA) is very unlikely.

That, and PW doesn't really work well with the CA balancing.

It's fundamentally about unbalanced play - you have unbalanced teams, unbalanced gear (since you get upgrades that you can keep) and whatnot... which runs very hard against RTS games that are designed for a long, balanced game.

Planetwars could be started but CA does not have enough players. PW needed players to stick to their faction (arm or core) and there were only arm vs core battles.

BA community will definitly intersting to play it since it has a lot of players.
Plus it will finally make players play other thing than dsd which will realy be a good thing.
Plus according the huge number of autohost free most of the day, setting PW BA autohost should not be a problem.

Will it be possible to play it with BA ?

I remember the days of 24/7 planetwars games with 8v8 with a ton of specs being very common *sigh*

Needs someone to set it up. But yes, it's possible.

I offered BA planetwars many times, TFC promised to prepare config for that.

BA planetwars would be lulsy.

People using upgrades to get an atlas to drop there com or to spawn 10 flash at the beginning of the game and gg.

and also 8v8 CA was enjoyable unlike 8v8 BADSD.

If you want BA planetwars, you have to work for it. Get latest source, prepare configs, prepare galaxy and when you have it ready and running I will install it on main spring server.

In soviet BA planetwars galaxy, every planet is DSD.
