Can maps have an "Empty Space"?

I mean, a part of the map in wich there is nothing. No water, only you can see the skybox. Cause in space maps, its ANNOYING to have water under your feets if you exactly know that you are in space.

Maybe, a map with small meteors to build and the rest is "Empty Space"

It can be made, or not?

In the present map format, no, I don't think so. We do it with void water. This is why void water exists.

That's not even a joke. You have to divide by NaN, not just zero. And ground will be gray, no skybox. But it's a bug, not a feature. :(

To clarify: void water replaces the water on the map with an empty void that shows the skybox, which I think is _exactly_ what OP is requesting. The problem is that the landscape looks ugly being simply cut-off as it hits the void.

Except he specifically did not want water, and void water still has water effects like wakes depending on water type.

This gives `spaceships` a new meaning ;)

Use my mapconv with a map texture that has an alpha channel (32 bpp tga).

whaat. you can make maps textures transparent in spring? how is that possible...
