New Steam UI

Anyone else had a look at the beta for the new UI?
It's fucking attrocious. The old one is clear and concise, the new is bloated and unpleasent. All I wanted them to add was the ability to add folders to my games list other than the favourite/non-favourite.

you're using the list view, with images disabled, right? it looks about like the old view, except with neutral gradients instead of a weird color.

Ok, so with a little work I'm managing to not want to puke, but I'm not seeing any good reason to switch yet.

Well does it perform any better? The old version was a huge system resources hog and was as fast as a nappy decomposing on a store shelf

I don't think it changes unless you go download some optional thing from them.

You go into your settings screen and choose to opt-in for betas IIRC.
I haven't tried it yet, but it can't be worse than Impulse's UI. Looks like it was designed by someone who wanted a Mac for christmas, but it's 100% .Net so it's slow as hell.
Combine the most stereotypical aspects of two operating systems, whose users are completely polarized against each other. What could go wrong?

Yeah, the new one is so much faster, it could be blue text on puke green background and I would still use it.

I don't think I'll ever be running steam again unless I need an update
thanks to
revLoader
I like the new UI, mainly because of the speed ups. Are they still using an IE class for browser windows?

I love the new Steam UI. It looks a lot more modern, and is finally free of IE's taint.

totally unrelated by I am a genius: for stronger beer just add vodka or other unflavored spirit (ie ever clear)

Thats nothing new... Once I even ordered a beer & pizza on a sunday morning and the bartender offered to strengthen up my beer a bit, cause I "looked like it".
