hello everyone!

i installed spring on my xubuntu 9.10 64bit pc and it seems that most of it is just running fine. high details and everything is running smooth.

just one little problem. while playing i get very short black screens (1 second) at random times. in fullscreen and windowed mode the whole screen so i think its not a spring problem. i tried a lot of different settings from very low to very high and those random black screens dont go away.

i also monitored the cpu and graphic card sensors in case they get too hot but the temperature stays at low levels. at last i searched in varous log files for any messages but no information there. but im not sure which log files i should watch for problems with graphics under linux.

this 3d graphics stuff under linux is quite new to me ^^

i have
xubuntu 64bit 9.10
nvidia geforce 9500gt (tried with driver version 173 and 185)

sorry for the double post but it got a little bit weirder.

i installed win7 to test if the same stuff happens to spring on a windows install and with the newest drivers installed i get the same black screens.

now i tried to start spring on my second monitor (1024x768 twin view under ubuntu) and the strangest thing happened. the black screens came again but on the main monitor, not where spring was running. i tested different resolutions but allways the same.

hmm :/
so you may search for a solution for this bug on nvidia geforce 9500gt using google. i guess it will happen for other OpenGL applications too. maybe your card is just broken.

jepp, you were right, happens with every openGL game. when i connect the monitor via VGA then everything works. seems like some strange sync issues with the card (nvidia 9500GT) and the monitor (samsung 226BW) via DVI.
