The source code for halo PC(and it's Custom Edition)...
Do you think it will ever be released to the public?
And to those who actually like to play halo, do you even care if it happens?

not many commercial games open-source their engine on a whim. why not one of the newer and more awesome engines, anyway?

There is a (small) demand for the code that does seem to be growing with time. With the way how there is less and less players playing the PC version, saying that the game is dieing is no exaggeration. With enough pushing it might be possible to obtain the code for the game.

People who likes Halo probably like the universe, the settings, the characters, the "art" direction, more than the engine. So the engine without the "art" assets would be useless. There's many better FPS source code available.

Dude, don't insult Aardappel by suggesting that the Cube family is related to Id. Cube/Sauer was made from scratch. All those other games are forks of Id engines, but Aardappel's projects are his own.
And as for Id engine forks, I'm mostly fond of Open Arena, just because it works moderately well with Q3 maps and mods.

sorry, never claimed that all titles there were made from id-source- sauer is stand alone, and double impressive that way.
