Tell me what licence you need them in if you want them... I still have the SVGs so I can implement suggestions if people have them.

It's very easy to adjust the contrast of images to your liking in a good image editor.

Jaz's look nicer, but sinbad's has much clearer differentiation and good visibility.

Well, Imo sinbad's are more succesfull in what comes to clarification and understandability. Jazz look visually better, not maybe perfect, but what comes to last 4 icons, you really can't understand or clarify visually or symbolically which of them are high-ranking.

I personally see the current icons pretty good and working. Maybe just small tweaking...

15 x 15 because I like being able to handle triangles and stars without stretching. A few minutes in GIMP. White background, rather than transparent, when you get into transparency you lose the supportive contrast between the edge pixels and the background, and thus a significant amount of imparted visual data.

EDIT: Ruby is hard to distinguish on the Copper Star, so I swapped it out for an Emerald. I could go for Emerald, Peridot, Amethyst for most contrast...

I really like the neddie icons but could you make the red in the center larger?

I made a google search and find pretty good example to follow. Well, whatsoever, I dont know why you want to redo completely fine and well working icons, but anyway...



In finnish army, we have so called "roses" before generals...

I don't like the current icons for a few reasons and I think new ones are needed. I like the icons arturri posted above this post. I also like lolly pops.

i dont like any of the suggestions on this topic.

It's alright, Artturi, in the U.S. we have Eagles before Generals, and Oak Leaves before Eagles.

As for those icons you posted, I've done two sets like that, but in the resolution constraints they tend to be uninteresting, and people always complain about difficulty reading them. The present SL and TASC icons are loosely based on the same structure.

The current ones are workable, but I've never liked them much. They're sloppy.

Anyway, Smoth, will look at when not posting from the phone of a friend.

ugly? haha look at this thread suggestions :D:D also, didnt you notice my new rank? its not that hard to copy the veteran star and change the colors of it. thats really all we need. i dont see any uglyness in those, how close do you watch your screen? 10cm?

and why would we need other background than white? you cant make such icons to be perfect on every possible background color. its not possible. (for example on black they would look too bright etc.)

on a side note, ranks arent meant to be an eye candy. i appreciate everything thats easily distinguishable, eyecandy is useless if it doesnt work.
