Im sure all of you know the

selection editor

It lests you fiddle around with your selected units,
by asigning keyboard hotkeys to selection presets like
Control+Z (select all units of the same type).

For example:

You may want to select all the units of the same type but
apearing ONLY in the current screen (pan).

(for example all pewees in front, but not those at the back.)

Well, start the util.

Image

Then press "New"

Image

then Choose a key(im using Z)., or a combination of keys (i.e. control + p).

Image

I want to work ONLY with the units currently sowing in the screen.
(You can define different subset of selection the key will work from, like all units).
(max dist. from mouse!! cool).(use weapon range as reference).

Image

then we get to the "What to Select then" screen.
I want all units of the same type selected.
No need for the "no commander" setting, but i use to put that there...

(REMEMBER IM WORKING FROM CURRENT VIEW ONLY SUBSET).

Image

try different stuff there.
its all so cool!

what the text after setting the key looks like

Visible+_Not_Commander_InPrevSel+_ClearSelection_SelectAll+

CAREFULL! dont use currently used elsewhere keys, like a, m, k, l, u, s, p, t, e, w, q, x, v, g....

or the keys in uikeys.txt

Code: Select all

bind pause Pause
//bind 'o' SingleStep
//bind 't' Chat
bind enter Chat
bind 'j' mouseState
bind 'b' Debug
bind 'v' CreateVideo
bind 't' Track
bind 'c' ControlUnit
bind 'h' ShareDialog
bind 'l' togglelos
bind up moveforward
bind down moveback
bind right moveright
bind left moveleft
bind ctrl moveslow
bind shift movefast
bind pageup moveup
bind pagedown movedown
bind esc quit
bind backspace mousestate
bind home increaseViewRadius
bind end decreaseViewRadius
bind insert speedup
bind delete slowdown
bind + speedup
bind - slowdown
bind f1 showElevation
bind f2 ShowPathMap
bind f3 LastMsgPos
bind f4 ShowMetalMap
bind f5 hideinterface
bind f6 NoSound
bind f7 dynamicSky
bind f8 savegame
bind f9 showhealthbars
bind f11 screenshot
bind f12 screenshot
bind '1' group1
bind '2' group2
bind '3' group3
bind '4' group4
bind '5' group5
bind '6' group6
bind '7' group7
bind '8' group8
bind '9' group9
bind '0' group0
bind § DrawInMap
bind ` DrawInMap
now, back in topic, i use very often the custom key

PrevSelection++_ClearSelection_SelectPart_30+

which is 30% of currently selected units, for finks, air scouts.

I like to make a "Select all mobile unit in the selection wich have less than 30%live"

Like that, Like that, it's easy to remove from the battle damaged units.

You can. Just select the "must not be" "relative health > 30".
Btw, is this in the wiki yet? I get the feeling that there are a lot of cool new features in Spring that aren't properly documented ....

I thinked I have said : "I like (making) this one" and not "I would like to make this one" ...Now I reread, I understand my mistake.

you can change those keys using the uikeys.txt file, btw, spring does recongnize my awsd keys now :)

anyhow i cant get used to it already..

been looking at GCii latelly, cant get used to no radar blips or no "L" key to show the superb spring LOS ranges, no area load, no repeat... :D no custom selection keys.. keep being ripped by ai major parker.. .

i just cant handle it (yet 8) ).

Yes u can use WASD, but at what price? The standard action cannot be change and is also use theses key :|

A= Attack
D= D-Gun
S= Stop

You need to de-select units each time you want to move your cam... This reply, is about to change other default key like above...

I've got some questions about key bindings:

1) Why doesn't "UIKEYS.TXT" contain every key binding or command?
2) Can someone tell me how to get a list of all the avalible commands I am able to to imput into the UIKEYS.TXT file?
3) Is there a key to activate resurrection? Like there is for Reclaim or Repair?
4) Is there a key for activating repeat orders?
5) Is there a key for changing fire modes like in OTA? (Used to be "f")
6) Is there a key for changing move behaviors again like in OTA? (used to be "v")
7) Is there a way to disable double pressing a number so that it doesn't try and center on the team? (I found that this is Extremely annoying when the team includes units being built, and I'm coordinating a battle between two teams and I forget which team I've got selected and my vision is suddenly snapped away from the battle to a point that's the average distance between my factories and my attacking units. I'd like to disable that feature if that's okay.)

Also here's a key stroke that's useful, I bound mine to Ctrl+E I hope that key's free...

Visible+_InPrevSel+_ClearSelection_SelectAll+

That command acts just like Ctrl+Z except it only affects units on screen. Perfect for selecting a mixed group of tanks or whatever without actually say... Selecting the air transports that brought them in. (I couldn't make that command with the GUI, I had to manually edit the thing together, and put it into selectkeys.txt)

I would like to have the Supreme Commander settings.
Inverting scrolling is something I've given up on. BUT:
How do I select all land/air/sea units?

(This thread is currently rather unclear imho. I am using Linux/Ubuntu 64bit)

@CaptainMaim - resurrect and capture are two commands that are not bound in uikeys. I bound capture to C (and rebound hte useless FPS mode elsewhere) and bound resurrect to ctrl-R.

So... any reason why they're not bound?

Most of the commands in uikeys.txt are irrelevant for gameplay, they seem to made mostly for bugtesting. Examples of idiotic binds:
bind Any+b debug
bind Any+o singlestep
bind Ctrl+f1 viewfps

You come from the total annihilation world and want to assign map bookmark => whooosh you are taken to a weird first person camera you can't get away from. Talk about being newbie unfriendly.

Or you happen to press "b" and your whole screen becomes cluttered with graphics.
