I understand the need to discuss certain things when they are project related.

However, ALL of the political discussions are as follows..

Troll post

knee jerk reaction from politically sensitive people

a few replies wanting to talk about it sensibly

more tinfoil hat bullshit

troll feeds thread

people look stupid with more extreme views.

and so on.

Politics have no place on a development forum. 100% of the time political discussion will result in many people becoming offended. It has always been considered impolite discussion and frankly it really doesn't have a place here.

I dont see how its any worse than any other subject not related to Spring?

Some people actually enjoy that kind of politics talk (or why else would they be writing).

political discussions are especially fervent.

I liked TAU's way of shoving all the US vs World flamewar threads into their own special subforum.

This thread holds the same fate <subsitute forum usernames accordingly>

id say this forum thread shares a it's fate with a few others indeed.

Banning potentially meaningful discussion outright is pretty excessive, but I think the moderation should keep political threads on an especially short leash.

EDIT: Though looking at the last political thread here makes me want to agree with smoth :/

There are other places to discuss such things.
