Post Reports
As some of you may have noticed, I added several new report types for the post report function roughly two months ago. I can see that you're using them. Are there any missing? Is the report functionality working for you? We try to address all reports the day they are made, whether through closure or through moderation action and closure. Have you any observations on the resolution of post reports?
Forum Warnings
Forum warnings exist to provide a moderation record of particularly abusive activity and thus establish a history to inform prosecution of later offenses. They also serve the function of warning people about their unacceptable behaviour before we are compelled to take more severe action. Right now the content of a warning is entirely up to the moderator or administrator who assigns it - would you like some standards in what is communicated? We've been working to use warnings more often, and to interpret them in a more consistent manner. Do you believe warnings are being used enough? Do you have any suggestions for the warning system?

Reporting posts as "off-topic" seems useless as nobody from moderation just gives a damn that x idiot is saying y dumb unrelated thing in z thread.
Also any reports of smoths posts carry no value it seems.

More indication of how and less what. f.e. this:
Warned for Felony One, Felony Two, Felony Three, Felony Six, Felony Seven, Misdemeanor One, Misdemeanor Two, Misdemeanor Four, Misdemeanor Five, Argumentative Offense One, Argumentative Offense Two, Argumentative Offense Three, Argumentative Offense Four.
Says absolutely nothing about how it was obtained, just says what rules were broken which is useful with some hint what happened but alone useless.

I constantly get surprises in my posterior due to blaming jews for things they couldn't possibly be responsible for, but there's no category for plain old "offensive". This leads me to believe that there's a junkskank following me around searching for things that

Factually inaccurate. I myself warned Smoth on the basis of a reported post in October. He was also warned six or seven other times in the past few years, and other moderation action has been taken against him at times.

I think it's pertinent to use when a post is obviously going to create (or has created) a major derail.

Do bear in mind that every user is not privy to warnings and PMs sent to other users.
In any case, reports are more of a "hey mods look at this post!" than a "I think this user should be banned because xyz"

I'm not certain whether I should introduce a common form, or simply some guidelines in order to improve warnings. It is true that the content varies widely...
For instance, these are warnings I've assigned to various people.
No. Just no. Felony 9?
They follow no common form, and often lack useful information, as Regret noted. The problem is, without a structure, they are left up to situational discretion, and since nobody seems to take them seriously... well, consistency has not been a priority in the content of the warnings I apply.

In the meantime I added a new Misdemeanor to the list of standard offenses, essentially covering abuse or misuse of the post report system.

Hahaha.
You wouldn't believe some of the stupid reports we get.

I agree that we need a report type for this type of post. Particularly caustic trolling?
