"Epic" mod thread

This is a thread where you can post all your "Epic" mod ideas - the ones that you don't have the time or the skill to work on, but more importantly the ones that are weird and ridiculous and would be impossibly impractical to implement, but the ones that would be really really really... - well in a word, "Epic"

See if we can do a sort of vote for which idea is the most "Epic" ("Epic" and "good" are not the same thing). All submissions must include:
  • An "Epic" title.
  • An "Epic" picture.
  • An "Epic" description.
I'll start

Cretaceous Crisis

Image

What really killed the Dinosaurs? A meteor? A volcano? No: it was WAR! Before their extinction the Dinosaurs had created all kinds of high-tech weaponry which was conveniently destroyed in the nuclear holocaust of their mutual destruction!
Ever wanted to command armies of Gatling-gun Stegosauruses? Pterosaurs with rocket launchers? A T-Rex with a giant death-ray in its mouth? Now you can!

Toy War-Story

Image

For anyone who have ever wondered what toys do when people aren't around: it is WAR! Three factions: the Plush (terrifying Teddy tactics), Kombat (army-men, action-men, fire-men: REAL men) and the Cutie (get ready to meet Genocide-Barbie and The Four Little Ponies of the Apocalypse) duke it out for Total Domination of the play-pen!
Get ready for some serious War-Games!

Spring Break

Image

Ever wondered who would win between a 1944 Sherman tank and a Krogoth? What would happen if the Undead took on a hacker in Cyber-space? If the Gundam universe declared war on Evolution RTS?
Spring Break offers a balanced playing-field where all of the eminent Spring mods engage in open WAR! Choose from such factions as the Cursed, Kernel Panic, EE, *A, S44, Evolution and more! Because combining all existing content could only make for a better game, surely?!

Looking forward to seeing your ideas :-)

William

PS - I made up my mind to post this here and not in "off topic", but if I'm wrong... *Gallic shrug + "bof"*

Crazy game idea that I won't ever build:

Playing field is giant city. One side is CA models to OTA scales to the city (i.e., they'd be big), with animations scaled down, FX scaled up, for maximum sense of "giant robot" and prettiness- this isn't a game where you see more than a couple on the screen most of the time. Other side is Gundam stuff, same deal. In the city, Lua-spawn many S'44 tanks and troops, and write some gamecode to occasionally spawn more.

Players can kill each other, but make that... difficult. Mainly, they're playing for score- destroying buildings and defenders (and civilians) is a major part of play, gives you score, and score usually would determine victory. No econ, just repair stations or something built into your initial base (which I'd make fantastically detailed, since there'd be exactly one).

Give each side's limited array of giant robots some ridiculous specials that knock down whole city blocks, give people powerups for killing city stuff... run on modern hardware, and enjoy the silly fireworks.

I'd play it. Makes me want to build some civvie models for WB, then I'd just need to make some generic Army Guys, it's not like they need to be fantastically full of variety, I'm talking about something vaguely like Rampage in 3D, with multiple characters per side. I think that would be fun- none of the boring simbase stuff, lots of explosions, and while combat with the other guy's an option, it's mainly about efficiently mulching the city with glorious high-explosives.

Spring Break
 Would be cool but isnt possible in spring.
before some say it is, i say why not:
- Texture Memory way to low for all the textures -
- It could run but with texture errors because of limit -
hope they fix that soon xD

Epic Ledgendary Battles of Battal: The First Great Elemenstation War

First of all it would take place in the world of Battal, a land so Epic that Epicness is considered one of the 264 (or so) Elements of the Universe... You would have a resource bar for each element (the resource bars would be activated or deactivated as resources are found or exausted) but when one team built a unit the opposing teams would be provided with "Epicness Deficit" points which they could use to summon special hero characters and legendary equipment... which would in turn provide the other players with "Epicness Deficit" of their own... the game would continue to escalate in this way until all the heroes and ledgendary equipment available in the game had been summoned (these units would be unique... though sometimes they would represent squads from ledgendary armies so they would esencially look the same but have minor differences in stats)... at the "Maximal Epicness" point all of the Remaining Epicness Deficit Resource from all the teams would be converted into Epicness Vacume and be used to summon hords of demons and dragons and other epicly evil creatures and furniture into play and at this point all of the starting teams would have to destroy these armies and of the starting teams armies remaining alive at the end of the game the force that destroyed the most of these epicly evil beings would be crowned the winner.

A reminder that none of these ideas need be practical - the only thing we're judging here is their level of EPIC - that's EPIC as in:

Image

Battal is hilarious btw - and Argh's idea is pretty epic too. Wasn't there a Starcraft map along those lines? Giant robots destroying stuff will always get my vote. Unless they're giant Robot Dinosaurs (good find PL - way to make my drawing skills looks bad :? )

Why is the fifth one Nemo?

Because Nemo has thought about doing it before. btw, I'm considering unblocking your posts, should I?

WC III would be fairly hard to realize, imo- the gamecode for the specials wouldn't be too bad, but the UI for upgrading the heroes would get pretty icky. I think it can be done, though.

And I like the multiplayer RPG idea- I've thought about doing a Diablo-esque thing for awhile. Until we have an organic animation format, though, it just wouldn't be practical to build the content on a fast enough timeline, imo.

 LOL! Well if that did happen, the gundams would totally fuck over the evo stuff, but evo might win out of pure spam ability and a nuke. But on an even keel, sadly, grts wins hands down (why is there no cry smily?).

My game would be Navy Versus Pirates. It would have ridiculous upgrade levels ranging from classical-era Galleys to futuristic spacecraft. Most units would probably have at least a dozen weapons. All the navy units would have various outrageous national accents, and all the pirates would of course be piratey.

Zombie sim. Remember that 'computer generated city zombie simulator' thing you can find on the web? That. In Spring. Full 3d. Epicness.
