Kernel Panic 3.8 out!

Bringing mostly:
* Fancy Menu (press esc when playing alone)
* A new gamemode: Heroes of the Mainframe!

3.7 -> 3.8 changelog
- The preplacing gadget doesn't spawn specials when they are disabled
- Now respawning heroes in turn (oldest one first)
- Fixed bug where team would explode at start
- Fixed bug where spectators were given heroes
- Now show the player names under heroes
- Hero units renamed Mega
- Removed erroneous hole entry in trojan build menu

3.6 -> 3.7 changelog
- Upgraded Spring to 0.80.5.2
- External C++ launcher now considered deprecated, running Spring.exe with a dummy script to trigger ingame Lua menu now considered favored way.
- Autohold off by default for AI teams, should help NTai a bit.
- Tiny change in ONS beam drawing code, resulting in huge performance gain.
- "Regenerative AI" optimisation fixing the lag that was function of (dead units)x(live units)
- "Regenerative AI" now sort units to regenerate by health, so homebase do first heavies, then cons, then arty, and lastly spam
- "Regenerative AI" fix for when it tries to rebuild where there was no datavent or to dispatch with empty buffer, that would previously result in neverending "limbo" console spam
- KPAI_Fair.lua now considered more up-to-date than KPAI.lua (that means future Lua AI development should be based on KPAI_Fair.lua not that it plays better than KPAI.lua)
- Fixed the hack making homebase face center
- Fix to the fix to gl.Text y offset, previous one was breaking down noResBar.lua and sos.lua on test build version strings.
- New missions, "Bug Squashing" and "Charge of the Hero"
- New in skirmish generator, the purple Heroic button.
- Special mission-only AIs now done via custom team option "aioverride" instead of using LuaAI names not referenced in LuaAI.lua
- New option to start game with preplaced minifacs and specials
- New game mode: Defense of the ENIAC / Heroes of Mainframe (See elsewhere for details)
- New button in single player menu, Save, does the same as typing the command /dump SaveGame but should be more user friendly
- New button in single player menu, Restart, which recreate a startscript corresponding to what was the current game
- Single player menu is now displayed: when is game over and when pressing esc in addition to when running Spring.exe. Never shown in multiplayer though.
- /Missions/ folder now automatically created if not existing.
- Better syntax in Spring.Restart that should now work on more OS and computers

If right click is allowed in mod option, you can control your carrier through the buildbar. ;) It's getting the old hacker in Hero mode that is tricky.


WARNING: Ingame menu only works when there's no space in Spring install path.

the old hacker seems to appear randomly. both in bots and players.

I did! :)
If i may a small suggestion.
Would be cool if in hero mod id have 3 DIFFERENT points to which i can call my troops.
This way i can divide my forces to 3 different locations instead of constantly telling them to run across the map.
3 because its more than one and because it seems enough to me but maybe it can be a different number.
Also i constantly felt like picking a unit and morphing it into a turret for some reason ;).

Overall very nice.People,play this more!

I had the idea of making the right click give order to only 25% of randomly chosen units, the rest of the 75% keeping their previous orders.

Again, no reason to wait, it's unlikely that KP will ever get closer to DOTA than the already released Defense Of The ENIAC mod option.

I say heroes should be in a new class of unit, only accessable in hero mode.

also: whats up with the new faction that was supposed to be made? perhaps we'll see it in 4.0? *spreads rumors*

THE CONTINUING SAGA OF THE ADVENTURES OF LUKE VAXHACKER

As we enter the scene, an Imperial Multiplexer is trying to kill a consulate ship. Many of their signals have gotten through, and RS232 decides it's time to fork off a new process before this old ship is destroyed. His companion, 3CPU, is following him only because he appears to know where he's going...

"I'm going to regret this!" cried 3CPU, as he followed RS232 into the buffer. RS232 closed the pipes, made the sys call, and their process detached itself from the burning shell of the ship.

The commander of the Imperial Multiplexer was quite pleased with the attack. "Another process just forked, sir. Instructions?" asked the lieutenant. "Hold your fire. That last power failure must have caused a trap thorough zero. It's not using any cpu time, so don't waste a signal on it."

"We can't seem to find the data file anywhere, Lord Vadic."

"What about that forked process? It could have been holding the channel open, and just pausing. If any links exist, I want them removed or made inaccessable. Ncheck the entire file system 'til it's found, and nice it -20 if you have to."

Meanwhile, in our wandering process... "Are you sure you can ptrace this thing without causing a core dump?" queried 3CPU to RS232. This thing's been stripped, and I'm in no mood to try and debug it." The lone process finishes execution, only to find our friends dumped on a lonely file system, with the setuid inode stored safely in RS232. Not knowing what else to do, they wandered around until the jawas grabbed them.
