Spring RTS Engine

I have the latest version of spring and have tried several different mods.

In each one there are unit icons for units that are in radar range. However, once these units come into visible range, they lose the icons. My own units never have icons.

I am not certain, but I have been led to believe that when the map is zoomed out a certain amount unit icons should be displayed. Without icons it is almost impossible to play when zoomed out, because units can not be seen.

Is there are setting that needs to be changed to turn on these icons?

In case anyone has the same problem:
The unit icon distance value had to be lowered. This meant that there were icons for most units (but not commanders).
The shadow-map size also had to be lowered, fixing the commander problem.

Yes, you can launch springsettings.exe and switch to expert mode. Under the detail settings you can change the unit icon distance, which defines how far away from the camera a unit has to be to drawn as an icon.

Great, thanks. That fixed it for almost anything, but in BA I still have no icon for my own commander (but do for my other units).
Is that the expected behaviour?

Not sure what the problem a reinstall fixed it
