Starting Energy/Metal difference in LAN game
Posted: 01 Sep 2005, 22:15
Hello, i am new to TA springs and have tried out a LAN game with a friend.
I am using this method to connect because the using the gui version (TASClient.exe, with me being the host, him connecting on local network) doesnt work.
Order of events when i use the TASClient.exe way:
my computer
-i first LanServer.bat
-i run TASClient.exe
-i connect to local host, then start a game
friends computer
-runs TASClient.exe
-connects to home IP
-finds my game, joins it
now that we're in the lobby, we start the game
-my computer: loads up the game world fine, can see other player, 3 second countdown before game starts, game starts with message stating other player out of sync
-friends computer: loads up game world fine, 40 second count down and quits.
Observations: connecting this way , it appears both players recieve the correct initial energy/metal values, so i decide to use the scripts file it genrated from this game and host a game manually using the Spring.exe and using the Script.txt as its extension.
=================================
Order of events when using Spring.exe:
-I fire up Spring.exe using the Scripts.txt that was generated from the above game.
-My friend connects by IP to the game i hosted.
-When we start , everything is fine, however my starting energy/metal and his starting energy/metal was different. The script.txt is supposed to set it at 1000E/1000M, which is what are the values my player obtained, but my friend's starting metal was much much higher (around 8-6 digits).
=============
Anyone know what i am doing wrong (or if it is the game's fault)? Im fairly certain that the scripts.txt is following the correct syntax, ill post it here later.
