I decided with four friends that we need a fanpage for the great Spring Project, because I think for new players its hard to get in this project.

We play Spring for about one year and I think we have a lot of experiences.


So we decided to make a fanpage in german:

If you have some corrections or material we should add dont hesitate to write it in the post here or contact us.

Wow looks fantastic, especially the pages that walk you through the installation process with screenshots of the installer and lobby.

Should make installing the game more accessible.

why is it pink? I know the best spring-clan is pink but the fansite is all gay cause of the pinkness why is it pink.

I would appreciate you to make a direct link from Springrts.com to your site for german users. It could be symbolized by a german flag or something else in the bottom of the page...

The Installation guide is a good idea, but using the installer is probally not the problem. If you have installed winamp or firefox its basicly the same. I think the real problem is using springsettings.exe ("what settings are good for my pc?") and configuring the lua widgets with F11.

how much is "sehr hoch" in numbers? noobs will not know if windmax=10 is good or bad.

The Galerie "Screenshots" is not very represantive (ie the star wars mod is not released yet) and the descriptions do not give any info, not for players and not for moders.
For example the beach picture, make a text like "spring has nice bumpmapped water and supports ships and amphic warfare" instead of just "at the beach."

Also, maybe make it possible to post as guest in the forum?
I am sure many german players would like to answer typical noobquestion but cba to register just to post "hey, look at http://www.springfiles.com for maps&mods"

for me, the plain white in the background is kind of.. too bright (like watching into the sun) .. i am generally bad in desing stuff though.

maybe for linux installation, you could simply link to the main sites linux install guides, as most linux users probably know enough english, and they may change often so it would be a pain for you to stay up to date there.

maybe ask in the #de channel, if thye can put a link to your site in the channel topic. You would have to ask one of these:
<silv>, <[x]silent303>, <[teh]che>, <[x]very_bad_soldier>, <Klopper>, <kingofrapya>, <aluis>, <[[[steepwood]]]>, <[x]BigMac>, <Eristoff>

You really should explain (and recommend) the expert options of springsettings though. It's a nice idea to have such a detail and quality setting but it's kinda useless in Spring (as it's not that with lower details you'll get models that use less polygons or smaller textures) and even contraproductive (let it choose a wrong water type for your ATI card and the player will get crashes and doesn't know why)...
