soo gay desync...

I had a group of guys we were going to play grts at a local lan. I had to change the port on the server to 8600....

the odd thing is that they can join the game fine but in game I get non-stop spam of:

Avail: 5, Recv 5

with the numbers changing over time.... and it seems to really have issues with syncing.

funny, the guys with 32 bit machines kept losing sync with the guys who had 64bit machines.

there were LITTERALLY 2 games running from one base game. The 64bit guys were in one and the 32bit guys were in the other with one of the 64 bit guys hosting the shit :\...

awesome, it is something relating to the lua ai(using the ba chickens ai with gundam rts)

I really wonder if more stuff was broken than fixed.

I still get that weird message spam though :\

The message spam is caused by some earlier version of 0.80.5.1, which was on the site for some hours only. The version now does not have this. (yep, its a mess, sorry)

Sorry to disappoint you, but we didn't even remotely touched luaAis in this release.

so that is not something to worry about?

Not really what I was getting out. In the new version several of my lua gadgets began reporting issues with unsafe code running. One is the jumpjet code, when issuing a jump command beyond the jumpjet range it bitches. I have yet to consistently reproduce it but it is frequent. The other is the chickens spawner, specifically the sections that have to do with spawner deaths. I commented out the offending code in the chickens spawner.

However, again, the complete desync ONLY happened when I hosted for the people on 32 bit machines. My machine and my friend running 64 bit we had some desync but the units were still fine. It literally ended up with the 32 bit guys playing a parallel game together and the 64 bit guys playing another. I am not sure what was the issue but it really sucked as this is a once every half year lan party with around 30 people, would have been great. Instead I spent most of last night trying to figure out this weird desync stuff :(.

Weird noone is reporting this. Not sure if its related to smoth's problem...

Spacebugs and chicken do not work since 80.5
What hurts the most is that they do work for some people, and don't for others.

Symptoms - chicken:
If I host a game (and I'm alone in it) - chicken GUI shows up, timer goes down, burrows spam, but chickens either do not attack me at all, or do smth weird like attacking their own burrows. Also, enemy commander is present on the map (!)

If I join a game - I just desync - i see other players actions up to some point (with frequent desync messages), then the game stops for me.

Symptoms - spacebugs:
Enemy commander (tower) is present on the map, nothing else happens.

Important - in both cases on game start there is a line: "Skirmish AI Bot 1 has taken over team 1" (or something alone these lines)

HELP!
(tried on both clean Spring install, and on 80.5 installed over 80.4)

This happens in CA as well - for half the players. One half play an intense chicken game, the other half sit there staring blankly at an idle commander. Only since .80.5.

I am glad I was blown off.

- Adding KP's Lua AI to a multiplayer game cause immediate desync (tested twice, desynced twice, with entirely different people beside me).
- Killing a KP's Lua AI makes Spring insta-crash (tried multiple time, crashed every time a Lua AI died).

Note: C++ AIs seem immune to this.

yep.
