free 25? missions, as easy to install as spring.

Online gaming aswell. (got pwn once :D)

Downside? no freelook (aka hybrid) camera, using the keys to tilt/rotate the camera is old.
(hard to roll back to that, its like getting into stone age again).

I don't see anything "free" in your links though. It's just a demo download and a high-res add-on pack...

whats the idea behind myth games exactly?

Oh yes, i think i misread.
Some missions may be free, as some multiplayer modes.

The interesting thing really, is its so up to date and ready playable.



The story behind it?...

well not sure. It has elements of nordic mythology, different creatures.

There are archers (you can name any unit (press N) the way you like, if they survive the mission, you get veteran units to play with in next mission (with persistent experience), its a shame to lose them). There are ghouls, the molotov dwarves, berserkers, soldiers, some witches, giants, undead?...


The story itself well, im not sure either... when i played it i was just learning english (still am), so didnt get much of the plot. undead enemies... things of the other world? seems it may have lotr influence in the story.
there is some evil guy you must kill for sure.

No, it's mainly influenced by Glen Cook's Black Company series, which is decidedly not Tolkien. If English is unfamiliar, however, I can see how it all looks the same.

The Black Company universe is one where magic is mainly a corrupting influence, even as it gives people power, and the characters are mainly anti-heroes acting on the orders of wizards who may or may not have the soldiers' interests in mind.

Myth's storyline is actually pretty cool, imo.

There is no economy, the game is about per-mission micro of a select group of guys, you don't get a personal hero (which, in retrospect, was one of the major weaknesses), and long-term strategy is solely about leveling guys for later missions (which is 100% essential, if you want to win on Hard).

MP... it's not exactly an awesome experience, tbh, without playing a mode where you're forced to abandon choice terrain due to the rules. Otherwise, just like IRL, the victory goes to the side that picks the terrain, all else being equal.

Way, way back when i first got my hands on a Myth beta/pre-launch disc before its release i was so immensed by the intro with zombies under the bridge.
