Cute, too bad it's closed-source and dependent on their server.

http://aviary.com/
this one is similar, but it also has other online editing tools.
Unfortunately it is still based on their servers, but I think it is possible to save things to your own pc as well (.egg files if Im not wrong :P)

Pixlr is really nice, and it's setup is similar to a stripped down photoshop. Also, it has a firefox plugin. Right click on an image, edit with pixlr. Saves me a lot of tiem when posting springinfo news.

Aviary has something similar like that. I have attached a screen of the firefox extension:
menu.png
menu.png (16.67 KiB) Viewed 2092 times
Does sortof the same thing :P
Although I dont use it much, as the screen captuing thing is slow like sh*t: the cursor is half a screen away from your pointer if you move it a bit faster.

added immediately. pixlr loaded with a blank canvas in milliseconds and this seems extremely convenient.

Yep, same experience here, and it is horribly convenient.

So is Open Location -> [paste URL] in Gimp. I'm personally a bit dubious on the whole cloud-computing / web-based application craze.

Or Copy Image in Firefoxy, then paste in your image editor.

Loading photoshop or any other local editor for resizing an image is annoying. Which is why I like this pixlr thing.

paint.net loads really fast IIRC.

if you only have teh shop for image resizing then you wasted money.

well, I just made a new avatar in pixlr, it worked great. I wouldn't use it for any serious image editing but for slapping up a diagram or something on the web its fine.

Its missing 1 killer feature IMO.. integration with image hosting sites. If I could right click, edit in pixlr, save to photobucket and paste a url to it just like that, that'd complete the deal for me.

I use irfanview for anything light weight. It is light weight fast, and pretty nifty.

Wow, great link, super convenient. My only question is do they store all your work on their server. I don't know if I'd feel save doing any real work on it. Other then that though it's great for a quicky.

I don't see any reason at all why you would need to use an online photo editing application. You have to upload your picture from your computer anyway, and then re-download it just to upload it again to a image sharing site.

I love irfanview on windows, it is really quick especially for just a quick crop or something small.

I'm sure there are other lighter graphics applications than gimp for linux, but it loads in a couple seconds, i create my image from clipboard or screenshot, and edit it quicker than i could upload anything to some online program.
