Spring RTS Engine

Europa Universalis III gets a lot of praise but i don't understand why.
Can someone,who has played it a lot,elaborate on what is so good about the game?

play victoria an empire under the sun, it's like a million times better

I spend like 100 hours playing EU2. Didn't like the 3rd one that much.

What I like about it is that it is strategy to the limit. No boring unit micro, you make decisions and watch how the outcome unfolds. Also, the historic part is quite interesting. Not only that you can learn shitloads of it (playing as any major nation gives you literally pages of historic data and facts), its also fun to see if you can beat history (What if ...).

What about Victoria's expansion?
"Victoria: Revolutions"

Does it make the game better?

If i want the best Victoria experience should i only play Victoria with latest patch?
should I play Victoria with the popular mod,"vip",or should I play with the expansion?

Get Imperialism if you don't have it yet - it's great!

EU2 was supposed to have very good diplomacy but that's the last I heard of it. TBH historical games don't really hold my interest too much, back then there weren't that many people alive to kill, hardly worth it.

Just too easy, otherwise really nice... And the ground battles get too tedious in the 1900s, when the damage/hp ratio of units gets so low.

yes the expansion helps a lot
and don't play vip, it sucks in a lot of ways

you'll only like it if you love 19th centure history, i think
