Spring RTS Engine

Hi everyone, I just joined your forums today! I read the about page on the website, but I'm just a little confused about what the Spring Engine really is. Is it for creating games or mods? Am I allowed to sell my games? Also how flexible is the engine?

It is for making RTS games (modules loaded by the engine). Yes you can sell the content you make. It is possible to create even a flight simulator using lua scripts, so flexibility is quite high.

Alright, awesome! Ive been looking a long time for something like this!

Flexibility is high in some areas, but you're likely to run into some unpleasant walls if you want to do anything too out of the ordinary. The flexibility that does exist is in the hands of your own ability as a coder.

Alright cool. What modeling tools do you suggest? I know its basically what I'm most comfortable using, but what are most people using? I have a little knowledge in Wings 3D and am pretty experienced with Milkshape 3D.

I'd advise getting away from Milkshape in any way you can, that mess only slows you down and you may not even notice how awfully clunky it is until you use a better tool.

Not that I've any experience, but I've seen others recommend this for modelling spring units.

spring is engine.

each game is car. spring maeks go.

btw i'm learning blender and i think it could be good for making spring units (however AFAIK wings 3d is better suited for this stuff)
