Interesting concept - makes for a good visualisation of the problem.
Sad and troubling fact of course... (though I do believe that we have the realistic opportunity/chance to push the "overshoot day" back in the midterm - if there is sufficient political will).

Edit: And that's without any of your sarcastic "solutions" :P

These tools are garbage based on extremely sloppy logic and dubious mathematics.

Globally, we now require the equivalent of 1.4 planets to support our lifestyles.

Total. Manifest. Bullshit.

Oh, unless you count CO2, maybe, since we can't actually count CO2 at this point: exhaust and re-absorption globally are largely conjecture since we don't currently have the tools to quantify any of the natural CO2-carbon cycle.

Fuckin hell, I don't NEED doomsday scenarios to support sustainable growth and technological advances!

And if you don't think those are what we need to keep this planet ticking, then you're a moron.

Earth overshoot day? Aww. I thought it would be the day when that comet thats going to kill us in 2030 narrowly misses us on its first pass.

Or perhaps it was something to do with abusing spring's FPS mode.
