I used to use terragen for a lot of 3d rendering, and I remember it was used for making TA maps for awhile. I just ran into the site again and notice the new Terragen 2 engine is out and I was wondering if any ones has given it a try?
It looks pretty powerful.

Tried it, but didnt like the interface as much as world machines, so i went back to that. And also, no layout mode.

terragen 1 sucks and there is no reason to use it imo

terragen 2 looks awesome but never used it

im talking strictly textures though, no idea about its heightfield editor. i think behe agrees - the ultimate luxury combo is worldmachine for heightmaps, then world in conflict editor for texturing using lightbake and normal maps.

It might be a bit limited compared to other programs but saying it sucks is a bit of a stretch.

I wouldn't say that supreme battlefield's texture sucks and it is completely done in terragen.

Some wiced textures are really messy and make seeing units on them annoying.

I would. Its extremely minimalistic.

Minimalism is not necessarily a bad thing, but I will say it doesn't add anything to play, and the rocky elements are not as detailed as I would desire.

You used Terragen 1 since 2 is a recent development.
