BitTorrent File Protocol

While I like the idea of using bitTorrent for map downloads/updates, I hope that the spring community doesn't go entirely to this method.
I myself (and I would bet many other members too) am at a university where BitTorrent is blocked.
Therefore any BitTorrent content is entirely out of my reach.
So while BitTorrent is great, don't use it exclusively.
Just something for you to keep in mind.

The bit torrent protocol will probably be used to distribute common files more quickly and effectively. If the file is not popular (or even if it is popular), you can still download it from the host (you don't need any ports open to download from a seed).
I also plan to use different port ranges than the bit torrent protocol uses. It will probably be the port that is used by spring already. There is no reason to use up tons of extra ports when you can just overlap them. No one would want to bit torrent and play anyways.

Ace is totally right. Use the BT protocol, but use it on a different port, like the TAspring one. That way we get all the advantages of BT, but we don't have to worry about the one disadvantage, it being blocked.

However, it will still be affected by packet shaping.

Block all traffic on the port that it uses
